Copper

With the ever-soaring cost of silver, copper has become the new favorite of both designers and fans of jewelry. Copper is a warm and beautiful metal that has many possibilities for design. I recently learned a technique called “fold forming” from teacher-extraordinaire, Kim St. Jean. She inspired me to want to learn more so I have been studying the process as developed by Charles Lewton Brain. Another source of inspiration is the jewelry design of the great artist, Alexander Calder. He was well known for his work with wire and found objects. Eva Sherman introduced me to a method of embossing fine gauge sheet metal, resulting in some very interesting new pieces, including some that combine sterling silver and copper. I hope the designs here appeal to your sense of style!
